Produced, Prompted, Inspired

1 Thessalonians 1:3 says, "We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."

As I read that verse this morning, I began to ask and think about the following questions, which may be helpful for all of us to examine from time to time. By asking questions and prayerfully thinking through the answers, I believe we can continually keep our focus on our Creator and get ourselves back on track when we swerve off course.

1. What produces my work? Is my work produced by faith in God or is it motivated by something else?

2. What prompts my labor? Can I truly say that my labor is prompted by love or is it prompted by a sense of duty?

3. Is my endurance inspired by hope in Jesus? If not, what gives me my endurance?

4. What steps can I take to have my work produced by faith, labor prompted by love, and my endurance inspired by hope?

Well, I hope you'll take a few minutes to examine these three little things (work, labor, endurance) and figure out where you stand and where you might need to make some changes.
